I recently read Oliver Burkeman’s new book, 4000 Weeks: Time Management for Mortals and thought it was one of the best things I’d read in years, character-design-wise. Others seem to agree:
It had a depth of understanding of our contemporary struggle of never getting enough done, always running out of time, always trying to become better, faster, stronger with heavy bouts of procrastination along the way. Crucially, Oliver also provides antidotes to these struggles that ring so deep and true for me that I can label them nothing short of a bucket full of wisdom and none of it horseshit pablum.
It is with great delight that I present to you a rough mind-map sketch of the book, as well as my conversation with Oliver. May it offer you insight into that which cannot be cured.
