I told y’all I was gonna kick it with a piña colada in a sweet little hammock for three weeks, but I just can’t keep myself away from you all. So here’s just one but substantial offering that I found way more than worthy of your attention.
On the plane, I had a chance to watch a documentary I’ve had high on my list but the subject is so grim that I kept delaying—being stuck in the clouds for half a day forced my hand. The film inspired me to do better—whatever that means— maybe to not back down, despite the never-ending fuckery of so much human fear, greed and delusion.
It’s about a tragedy and the corruption that tragedy unearths. But from our investigation-of-character’s perspective, it introduces us to a young politician who wants to do the right thing, despite the odds, and meets the hellish onslaught of evil with a kind of steadfast calm that I thought was worth deeply reflecting on.
