1. “His Super Power is making others Happy.” Please delight in this extra-ordinarily generous look into the life of a boy with autism and many like him. May we be as good at succeeding to find our own perseverance and character-based measures of success.
2. This guy has persevered through decades of turn moil and upheaval and all the political machinations one gets to see over 70+ years on our spinning ball of intrigue. And now he offers us an entire radio show devoted to whiskey. If you can’t enjoy the finer things in life, your hard work isn’t developing your character, but an impediment to it. Sometimes relaxing is the hardest thing for some of us to do. Allow Bob to show you the way.
3. Another gem from Tim Urban. Allow me to invoke the term karma to explain the diagram. When foolish people gain power, they make decisions that benefit the few in service of themselves. That sets up a bad time when things begin to crumble, as they must, because karma means that you don’t get to do anything without there being an effect of and on the things you’ve just done. But bad times inspire us to innovate and discover new and creative solutions to the fucked up issues the self-centered dicks brought upon us. Which eventually allows us to have some good times, because wise policies often beget periods of less suffering. But humans can’t have good in moderation, can they? So they want more of it, which engenders more clowns. Repeat.
Since we’re somewhere on the right side of this diagram, perhaps you ought to prepare for the role of wise person in the near future; we’ll need you.
And don’t despair. This is how things go.
