Most of us assume character design is a gruesome and barely tolerable affair. This is untrue; if you add a healthy dose of creativity, it can be all kinds of fun! Here are some examples.

1. The practice of meditation is a key ingredient to cultivating character because it develops the eye with which you can begin to see yourself clearly. If you want to see the most exuberant and non-pc explanation of meditation ever––not an overstatement––watch episode 1 of The Midnight Gospel on your Netflix machine.
2. Basketball is all fun and games unless you’re trying to excel over and over and over again while busting the other guy’s nuts. Going hard is sometimes necessary to get ourselves to deeper places. But it’s not a simple equation; “go hard all the time” has its virtues and its costs. Let Michael Jordan’s tears show you how his body remembers deeply this bitter-sweet lesson:
There is always room for humor; if you can’t laugh as you grow, you’re making everything more rigid and painful than it needs to be.
4. Are you an introvert or extrovert? What’s the difference? Know thyself so you can better adapt to others and to yourself. This video explains the distinction.
